2012 Hyundai Accent

A long-neglected segment in the U.S. market, the subcompact scene has suddenly gotten very interesting. First came Honda's second-generation Fit, which set the bar for the other contenders. Then, Ford's Euro-cutie 2011 Fiesta made its stateside debut, followed shortly thereafter by its distant cousin, the Mazda2. All along, Hyundai's Accent soldiered on as competent, if somewhat unremarkable, contender in the segment. Its competitiveness in the U.S. market was also hampered by the lack of a five-door configuration.
Now that Hyundai has finally gained respectability with consumers and critics with such models as the Genesis, Equus, Sonata, and new Elantra, the automaker is looking to dominate the subcompact segment with its all-new 2012 Hyundai Accent. No longer an also-ran, second-tier competitor, the new Accent has upped its game substantially. In equipment, style, and pricing, it poses the most serious and credible threat to the Fiesta and Fit to date. The one casualty of this re-imagining is the three-door hatch. In fact, the only three-door models in the segment are a version of the Toyota Yaris and Fiat's recently introduced 500 subcompact, which isn't offered in any other style.
So what's there to get excited about with Hyundai's new entry-level offering? Try the segment's only direct-injected engine, which also now happens to be the most powerful, at 138 horsepower and 123 lb-ft of torque. That bests the next-most-powerful Fiesta by 18 horsepower and 11 lb-ft. The 1.6 liter DOHC engine also features dual continuously variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust camshafts. With all this technological wizardry, the Accent still manages a segment-leading 30 mpg city and 40 mpg highway. True, certain trims of the Fiesta manage the big 4-0 on the highway, buy Hyundai is proud of and quick to point out that the Accent's fuel economy ratings apply across the board, regardless of body style, transmission, or trim level.
Speaking of transmissions, it's six speeds for everyone, whether you're of the shift-it-yourself or slushbox persuasion. Automatic models also include an Active Eco button that further optimizes fuel efficiency up to 7 percent in real-world driving, Hyundai claims. However, the fuel frugality in this mode usually comes at the expense of throttle response and overall driving enjoyment.
As if class-leading power and fuel economy weren't enough, Hyundai is also claiming head-of-class cargo capacity, besting even the capacious Fit by 0.6 cubic feet with the rear seat up. However, the Fit's clever interior packaging does give it a 9.8 cubic-foot edge in hauling volume with the rear seats folded.
But wait, there's more. The Accent also features the only segment-standard four-wheel disc brakes. Nearly all its primary competitors have rear drums, save for the Fiat, which is a more premium offering a la the Mini Cooper.
In terms of size, the Hyundai boasts the longest wheelbase in the segment at 101.2 inches, roughly three inches longer than most of its peers. Overall length is also on the longer side, with the hatch stretching 162 inches from stem to stern, and the sedan totaling 172 inches. Only the Fiesta sedan is longer, at 173.6 inches.
Although the new Accent five-door is narrowly edged out by the voluminous Fit in overall passenger volume at 90.1 cubic feet versus 90.8 cubic feet, it bests the Mazda 2 and Fiesta by 3.7 and 5.7 cubic feet, respectively. The sedan is slightly smaller at 89.7 cubic feet, but hardly enough that anyone will notice.
In terms of styling, the Accent five-door most closely resembles the Fiesta. In fact, when we first laid eyes on it, many of us said, "Looks like a Fiesta with the Elantra's nose." And we mean that as the highest possible compliment, as the Fiesta is regarded by many as being the handsomest subcompact hatch. The rear has a hint of the BMW 1 Series hatch (which isn't sold in the U.S.), but overall the Accent hatch has a smart, contemporary look that should appeal to a broad spectrum of the car-buying public. The sedan likewise has a fresh look, but it's not quite as bold and distinctive as the slightly larger Elantra, and the rear angle has a slight mini-Buick look to it. Regardless, both models are a major stylistic improvement over their nondescript predecessors.

Although the Mazda and the Fiesta are the current staff favorites among the subcompact class, the new Accent looks to be a strong contender for our affections. Rest assured, as soon as we can get our hands on one for a first drive and comparison test, we plan on pitting it against the current class leaders.

2012 Honda City

Honda City to undergo mid-life facelift, diesel variant still a long time away.
The Honda City has been around for three years now and while it has successfully remained the king of the executive sedan throne, its supremacy has not been daunted by the likes of the Volkswagen Vento and the new Hyundai Verna – especially by their diesel variants. In fact, in its combined sales, the Volkswagen Vento overtook the City’s sales last month and looks like it will only worsen for the Japanese carmaker, thanks to the rising fuel prices.
While Honda has already confirmed that they indeed need a diesel but the oil burner for the City is atleast two years away, the Japanese carmaker will still go ahead give the City its mid-life makeover to tackle the new competitors. The City’s design is already in line with Honda’s current design language – so much that the upcoming Civic actually looks like a bloated Civic. So don’t expect any outrageous changes.
The City facelift will instead have subtle tweaks to its design to make it look sportier than the current model. We expect the trademark new honeycomb-mesh grille with the single chrome slat to make it as standard fitment on the new 2012 Honda City. Expect the headlights to get minor design tweaks while the taillights could get an LED treatment.  The interiors should get minor tweaks too, with new upholstery options, redesigned console or dashboard elements, added features etc.

There is a fair chance that the new 2012 Honda City facelift could take a lot of design cues from the Honda City Concept that was shown in Australia back in 2008. The 2012 Honda City facelift is expected to make its debut in Thailand in September 2011. Expect the new facelift Honda City to India by Diwali 2011 or at least by January at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi.

2012 Mazda3

Mazda has released today the first images and details of the new 2012 Mazda3 facelift which will have its debut at the 2011 Canadian International Auto Show. The new 2012 Mazda3 facelift will be the first model to feature the new SKYACTIV-G gasoline engine and SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmission. These new technologies will offer the 2012 Mazda3 facelift better torque at low- and mid-range engine speeds which will result in an improved fuel consumption.
Apart from the new engine, the 2012 Mazda3 facelift comes with new front and rear bumpers with a redesigned front grill, fog bezels and front headlamps. The 2012 Mazda3 facelift will also feature new 16 inch and 17 inch alloy wheels.
The sky's the limit at Mazda's display at the 2011 Canadian International AutoShow. Making its debut is the 2012 Mazda3, which, in addition to receiving a facelift, will also offer the option of Mazda's new SKYACTIV-G petrol engine and SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmission when it is launched in Canada later this year. This initial application of Mazda's SKYACTIV engine and transmission technologies - the first time they will be employed in a production vehicle - will realize higher torque at low- and mid-range engine speeds resulting in better drivability with less fuel consumption in everyday driving.
Mazda Motor Corporation has been developing its new technologies under the SKYACTIV concept and they include completely new petrol and diesel engines, transmissions and vehicle architectures. Mazda's SKYACTIV Technologies will be launched successively beginning with the new petrol engine and automatic transmission in 2011.

Mazda has stated that its goal is to improve fuel efficiency by 30 percent by 2015 (compared to 2008 levels). This will be accomplished through SKYACTIV Technologies, which focus on improving the
efficiency of internal combustion core technologies in association with vehicle weight reduction. Then, gradually, electrical devices such as idle-stop, regenerative braking and hybrid systems will be introduced to further improve fuel efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.

In addition to the new SKYACTIV engine and transmission offerings, the 2012 Mazda3 will receive new front and rear bumpers with a redesigned front grill, fog bezels and front headlamps. New 16- and 17-inch alloy wheels complete the 2012 exterior updates.

Another vehicle making its first appearance in Toronto is the new 2012 Mazda5 multi-activity
vehicle. Since its introduction as a 2006 model, the Mazda5 has redefined the concept of compact transportation by offering seating for up to six people in three easily configurable rows, as well as with unique styling and driving dynamics not typical in vehicles of this type. Over 50,000 Mazda5s have been sold since its introduction to Canada and it is the second best selling nameplate in Mazda Canada's line-up.

The 2012 Mazda5, on sale now across Canada, incorporates motifs from Mazda's "Nagare" design language which, inspired by the beauty of nature, presents an elegant look not found in any existing vehicle today. Changes run deep under the skin too, as the vehicle is now powered by a 157-horsepower 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine and can be paired with either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. Outstanding fuel economy and unexpected driveability are carried over from the previous model, as are the vehicle's sliding rear doors and flexible seating for up to six people. The 2012 Mazda5 is available in two trim grades with a starting price of $21,795.

Rounding out the Mazda display is the full line-up of 2011 models, including the Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda6, MX-5, RX-8, Tribute, CX-9 and, of special note, the 2011 CX-7, which is now being offered with leather seating, or all-wheel-drive, below $30,000.

2012 Chevrolet Cruze

What's New for 2012

There are no major changes for the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze.
Introduction

Researching a small car on Edmunds.com to find a top pick used to be pretty straightforward. Chances are we'd point you to a Honda Civic, a Mazda 3 or, if you really wanted to fly your freak flag, a Subaru Impreza. But now things are different. There's been a regime change for small cars, and one of the rebel leaders is the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze.

The Cruze debuted last year as an all-new model and has gone on to be both a sales and critical success. The reasons are multifold, but the bottom line is that the Cruze is simply a quality car. It looks sharp inside and out. Attention to detail is apparent the first time you close the door and notice it shuts with a solid "thunk." The feature content is up to date with options such as hard-drive-based navigation and keyless ignition/entry. Chevy's come a long way since the Cobalt.

On the move, the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze impresses with capable handling and a quiet cabin. Under the hood you have a choice of two engines. Base LS models have a 136-horsepower 1.8-liter four-cylinder, but most Cruzes actually come with a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine. Horsepower is about the same from this smaller engine (138 hp), but torque rises significantly to give the Cruze a boost in around-town acceleration. The turbo also sees duty in the Cruze Eco variant. Thanks to various tweaks, the Eco achieves an impressive 42 mpg highway EPA rating.

That said, looking at other models is still a wise idea. The redesigned Ford Focus is similarly impressive and holds advantages in handling and technology features. The stylish Hyundai Elantra is equally well rounded and arguably a better value. And even though they're not the dominant choices they once were, the Honda Civic and Mazda 3 are still great cars. But the fact remains that the small car segment has changed, and the Chevy Cruze is a top contender.
Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2012 Chevrolet Cruze is a small sedan that comes in four main trim levels: LS, Eco, LT and LTZ.

The LS includes 16-inch steel wheels, OnStar, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, air-conditioning, a six-way (manual) adjustable driver seat, a 60/40-split rear seat, a trip computer, full power accessories and a six-speaker stereo with a CD/MP3 player, satellite radio and an auxiliary audio jack. A Connectivity package adds Bluetooth, a USB port and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls.

The Eco is equipped similarly to the LS but is optimized for maximum fuel efficiency with aerodynamic improvements, lightweight alloy wheels, low-rolling-resistance tires, a smaller fuel tank and a few minor feature deletions to further reduce weight.

The LT actually comprises 1LT and 2LT subsets. The 1LT comes with a turbocharged engine, cruise control, color-keyed power outside mirrors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and the contents of the Connectivity package.

The 2LT differentiates itself with 16-inch alloy wheels, remote vehicle start, cruise control, a sport-tuned suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, leather upholstery, heated front seats and a six-way power driver seat. The Cruze LTZ adds 18-inch alloy wheels, rear park assist, keyless ignition and entry, automatic climate control, premium interior trim and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Many of the standard features found in the upper trim levels also can be had on lower trims as options. A hard-drive-based navigation system, a Pioneer nine-speaker premium sound system, a sunroof and an RS appearance package (unique front/rear fascias, foglights, rear spoiler) are all available on the upper trims.
Powertrains and Performance

The Cruze LS is powered by a 1.8-liter inline-4 that makes 136 hp and 123 pound-feet of torque. The Eco, LT and LTZ are fitted with a turbocharged 1.4-liter inline-4 that generates 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque. On the LS, LT and Eco, power flows to the front wheels through a standard six-speed manual transmission. A six-speed automatic is optional on those trims and standard for the LTZ.

In Edmunds testing, a Cruze LTZ accelerated from zero to 60 mph in 9.3 seconds, an average time for this class.

EPA fuel economy estimates stand at 25 mpg city/36 mpg highway and 29 mpg combined for the Cruze LS with the manual transmission and 22/35/27 mpg with the automatic. The turbocharged engine (LT and LTZ) with either transmission receives 26/38/30 mpg estimates.

The fuel-economy-focused Cruze Eco earns a laudable 28 mpg city/42 mpg highway and 33 mpg combined with the manual transmission and 26/39/31 with the automatic.
Safety

All 2012 Chevrolet Cruze models come with stability control, antilock brakes, full-length side curtain airbags, front knee airbags and front and rear side impact airbags as standard. All trims except the 2LT and LTZ have a front-disc/rear-drum brake setup; those models are upgraded to four-wheel disc brakes.

In government crash testing, the Cruze earned a top five-star rating for overall safety performance, with five stars in both frontal and side-impact categories. In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety testing, the Cruze received a top score of "Good" in both frontal-offset and side-impact testing. In Edmunds brake testing, a Cruze LTZ stopped from 60 mph in 122 feet, a good distance for this class of car.
Interior Design and Special Features

The Cruze's "twin cockpit" interior design and two-tone color schemes deliver an upscale ambience. Overall interior quality is respectable, too, with soft-touch materials in the right places and very little that's shiny plastic. For the most part, the Cruze's controls are straightforward, though the optional navigation system can be a bit awkward to use when it comes to inputting information.

The Cruze's front seats are a bit narrow, which might be an issue for some drivers, but they offer plenty of adjustment and are both supportive and comfortable. A low cushion for the backseat diminishes comfort for longer-limbed riders, whose thighs will have minimal support. Actual legroom is only average for the segment; you'll find more space in the Civic and Volkswagen Jetta. Considerably above average, however, is the Cruze's large trunk, which measures an impressive 15.4 cubic feet.
Driving Impressions

The most surprising characteristic of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze is its combination of genuinely athletic handling with a comfortable, controlled ride quality. The Cruze's chassis isn't particularly sophisticated as far as economy cars go, but its design ensures secure handling and a compliant -- but not mushy -- ride. The standard suspension rides as well and as quietly as just about any compact car, while the sport suspension on the 2LT and LTZ is firmer, though without harshness.

Most drivers should be satisfied with either of the Cruze's engines. The upscale turbocharged engine is pretty average in terms of outright acceleration, but it's peppier around town thanks to its increased torque. The main issue, however, is the automatic transmission. Programmed for maximum fuel economy, it's reluctant to downshift for quick acceleration and passing unless you really boot the throttle.

Kia Soul 2012

Kia Motors America (KMA) celebrates the world premiers of the all-new 2012 Kia Rio sub-compact sedan and the comprehensively upgraded 2012 Kia Soul at the 2011 New York International Auto Show.

The product that began Kia Motors' design-led transformation returns to New York with a fresh and updated look, more power, and the same funky demeanor that consumers all around the world have come to love from this compact crossover. The hugely successful Kia Soul is fine-tuned for 2012 with a significant number of technology and powertrain enhancements to deliver more power and improved fuel efficiency.

"After just two model years, we've given the 2012 Soul significant improvements in power, style and fuel economy, making this iconic vehicle the perfect package for consumers looking for something a little outside the box," said Kia's Michael Sprague. "The Soul has always stood out from the crowd and is responsible for bringing new customers to the Kia brand and positioning the company for a series of record-breaking successes. With gas prices on the rise, this refresh adds even more style and fun-to-drive performance, while also improving fuel economy by 10 percent."

More Power, Less Fuel

The 2012 Kia Soul will amplify the fun-to-drive factor with significant horsepower increases, new six-speed transmissions and the ability to deliver up to 34 miles per gallon on the highway. A new 1.6-litre GDI engine produces 135HP (100kW), an 11 percent increase from the previous engine). For buyers looking for a greater boost in power, a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine is available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission - advanced technology that is rare in this segment.
This engine, which produces 160HP (119kW), a 13 percent increase from the previous engine, and 143 pound-feet (194Nm) of torque, is standard on the three Kia Soul models.

Kia calculates that fuel economy for the 1.6-litre is an impressive 28/34 mpg city/highway (8.4-6.9L/100km), 10 percent more efficient than the previous engine, while the 2.0-litre offers a fuel-sipping 27/33 mpg (8.7-7.1L/100km) for both the automatic and manual transmissions.

More Style & Refinement

In addition to the 2012 Soul's performance upgrades, the new model also introduces a number of significant design improvements. On the outside, Kia Soul is freshened with new projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, a redesigned hood and new front and rear bumpers. New and modern LED rear light clusters enhance the Kia Soul's unique design, while the overall shape of the vehicle has been finessed to give Soul a smoother and more streamlined silhouette.

Spacious, State-of-the-Art Interior

Kia Soul envelopes its passengers within a more high-tech, futuristic cabin for 2012, featuring a generous blend of technologies at tremendous overall value. Soul was a recipient of the Ward's AutoWorld "Grooviest Interior" award for 2010, and passengers in the 2012 model will find genuine comfort in the roomy cabin.

New for 2012, an Infinity premium audio system is available on Soul+ models and standard on Soul! and Soul sport models for a more robust listening experience. Also new for 2012 is the UVO powered by Microsoft® in-car hands-free communication and infotainment system. A Premium Package is also available with heated front seats, leather seat trim, automatic climate control, and a navigation system among its upscale comforts.

Peugeot 208 2012

After announcing that they are working on the 508, a car which is going to replace the 607 and the 407, Peugeot announced that they are working on a successor for their 207, which is going to be called Peugeot 208. The Peugeot 208 is going to be released in 2012 and will probably show a new design line which will also be used on the 508.

Under the hood, the 208 will feature new fuel efficient powerplants and the car will also come with a start/stop system which will further improve the car’s fuel consumption. The French carmaker hasn’t released other details about the successor of the 207, but we will probably get more information about it in the upcoming months.

Jeep Grand cherokee 2012

Chrysler’s Jeep division today unveiled the second generation Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 at the New York International Auto Show, heralding a new era of high performance SUVs.
Offering 465 horsepower and 465 lb-ft. of torque, the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is by far the most powerful Jeep ever offered. As a result, Jeep says that it should be capable of sprinting to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds with a mid-13 second quarter mile figure. Top speed is limited to 155 mph.

That power comes courtesy of an all-new 6.4-liter HEMI V8 that builds on the outgoing 6.1-liter model by offering an additional 45 horsepower and 45 lb-ft. of torque. Chrysler says that its engineers worked especially hard to make 90 percent of the engine’s peak torque available between 2,800 and 6,000 rpm.

To reduce fuel consumption, an active valve exhaust system cuts out four cylinders, which Jeep says helps increase fuel economy by 13 percent on the highway. Combined with a large gas tank, Jeep says the Grand Cherokee SRT8 should be capable of a 450 mile range.

Inside, the Grand Cherokee SRT8 gains steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters to control the five-speed automatic transmission.
Jeep says it worked hard to further refine the Grand Cherokee SRT8′s handling by building on the all-new WK2 platform with a new Selec-Track traction-enhancing system. With a name that conjures up images of Jeep’s SelecTrac transfer case, the new Selec-Track interacts with the stability control, adaptive damping, transmission shift strategy, transfer case torque proportioning, electronic limited slip differential, throttle control and cylinder de-activation. Five modes – Auto, Sport, Tow, Track and Snow – ensure ideal traction for any situation. Unlike the previous Grand Cherokee SRT8, the new SUV is designed to be used year round for a variety of uses – even towing.

A single-speed transfer case sends power between the front and rear wheels. Uprated power steering and Brembo six-piston front and four-piston rear brakes help the Grand Cherokee maintain control. Jeep says that the new SUV will stop from 60 mph in just 112 feet.
The 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 is more aggressive looking than before with exclusive front and rear fascias with LED daytime running lamps and chrome bezel inserts completing the look.
A new rear liftgate spoiler is designed to reduce drag and improve downforce at high speeds.

Riding on split five-spoke 20-inch alloy wheels, the Grand Cherokee SRT8 will be available with either all-season or three-season Pirelli P-Zero runflat tires.

Inside, the SRT team upgraded the Grand Cherokee’s interior with a three-spoke steering wheel with a flat bottom, Nappa leather and suede seats and extensive carbon fiber accents. SRT’s Performance Pages trip computer functions remain, meaning the Grand Cherokee SRT8 can display performance figures like 0-60 time, 60-0 distance, g-forces and one eighth and quarter mile times.

 In addition, a new 825-watt 19-speaker audio system boasts a 10-inch subwoofer.

2012 Jeep Wrangler

A lot has changed within the 2012 Jeep Wrangler, but you'll be hard-pressed to see any differences from the outside, and its off-road capability and toughness have been steadfastly preserved. Jeep has very carefully maintained the Wrangler's trail prowess while—thanks to an all-new powertrain this year—made it much more Key Takeaway
The off-road-hardy 2012 Jeep Wrangler is still fine-tuned for adventurous weekend warriors, but it's become a little more tolerable for the commute.
satisfying on the road. Key Takeaway
The off-road-hardy 2012 Jeep Wrangler is still fine-tuned for adventurous weekend warriors, but it's become a little more tolerable for the commute.

While the 2012 Wrangler looks virtually the same as the 2011 Wrangler, Jeep has dropped its new Pentastar V-6 into the 2012, along with a new five-speed automatic transmission. A six-speed manual is still offer, too. But together, the V-6 and automatic combination can now dash to 60 mph in a much faster 8.4 seconds for the Wrangler Unlimited (or 7.7 seconds for the two-door Wrangler; revs are kept low and relaxed on the highway, and the new V-6 gives the Wrangler surprisingly good passing pep.

Take to the trail—pretty much any trail—and you'll experience the Wrangler's reason for being. The tough body-on-frame chassis and solid front and rear axles that established the Wrangler as one of the most capable off-road SUVs on the market continues to wow, with lots of clearance, a rugged underbody with protective skid plates, and terrific boulder-scrambling prowess. The traditional four-wheel-drive system is also supplemented with some modern tech, including an electric sway-bar disconnect that permits impressive wheel articulation without the expense of floppy on-road cornering.

That said, on-road ride and handling remain sore spots. The Wrangler has a live front axle and dull recirculating-ball steering that has no road feel, although it's find on the highway. On twisty two-laners, it can get a little bouncy or jittery with choppy road surfaces, and mid-corner bumps can create a full-body shudder from the front end. The other sore spot is gas mileage; while Jeep has improved mileage significantly with the new engine, to 16/21 with the automatic, it's quite thirsty for such a compact vehicle.

Jeep has improved overall refinement in the Wrangler by leaps and bounds over the past several years, and the interior and noise-reduction improvements introduced last year, combined with the new engine and transmission this year, amount to a substantial refresh. Last year, the Wrangler tossed the parts-bin look and got an all-new instrument-panel design—more curvy and sophisticated, but still upright—along with new interior materials that have more soft-touch surfaces for elbows and such.

The Wrangler is offered in two different body styles (Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited) and three different trims (Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon). Wrangler Unlimited models add 20.6 inches of wheelbase (116 inches), giving them the most cargo space ever in a Wrangler, and a larger rear-seat design. While that extra backseat space in the Unlimited will be much appreciated, don't expect a lot of comfort anywhere in the Wrangler. Also, no matter which model, the front seats tend to be a bit flat and unsupportive.

When you don't mind a little turbulence and wind in your hair, with the top removed (and even in some low-speed cases, the windshield folded down) the Wrangler can hit the spot, bringing the sensations of a convertible in a very capable off-roader—it's the only four-door convertible SUV. The removable tops are one of Jeep's best features—though they allow lots of road noise in the cabin, they can completely open the cabin of both the two- and four-door models, turning a hardtop Jeep into a convertible SUV. Jeep has improved its soft top design, making it much easier to use, and the Sahara's body-color hardtop is now offered in the Rubicon.

And you'll probably smile when you realize how well-equipped the Wrangler comes; it completely defies utilitarian expectations in offering items like navigation, automatic climate control, and streetwise alloy wheels. Standard equipment includes fog lamps, tow hooks, a compass, a device that shows how economically you are driving, and even an outdoor temperature gauge. Its utter flexibility, along with those options and others like Bluetooth connectivity, MyGIG music storage, Sirius Satellite Radio, and a hard-core off-road package have us still quite amazed at all that's offered—more than any other off-roader. But with Rubicon trims topping $40k potentially, it's not a good choice for the budget-strapped; either way you look at it—whether you're a serious off-roader looking for a weekend toy, or you're a bored commuter who wants something to make it appear you'll get out to the trail—the Wrangler is a pretty expensive niche vehicle.

2012 Toyota Rav4

Sports utility vehicles have been quite popular over the past few years.  Combining a stylish design with all the power that you would need when going off the beaten path, SUVs have managed to offer a unique blend of comfort and power.  The problem that many car buyers face is that, with a family, they need plenty of storage space and enough room to keep everyone comfortable.  This used to mean that a boring, underpowered, minivan was the only way to go.  The 2012 Toyota Rav4 is what is being called a “crossover” because it combines the power of an SUV with the roominess of a standard minivan in a smaller and more stylish package.
One of the things that people dislike about Minivans is the look.  They’re generally large, clunky and have never been known for style.  While some people may have had to settle for a boring minivan, the crossover is here to change all that.  The 2012 Toyota Rav4 is being called a compact crossover because it is somewhat smaller than other crossover models.  The 2012 Rav4 can be a great option for people looking for space, style and power in a smaller, easier to park size.
Toyota isn’t planning on changing too much in the design of the 2012 Rav4.  At first look, it is quite similar to last year’s models but now comes in a range of new colors.  The Rav4 2012 models remain an extremely stylish and attractive four door crossover.  One of the most noticeable features on the 2012 Rav4 is the tailgate door.  Most SUVs, minivans and even crossovers have a tailgate door that swings upward.  While this is great for certain occasions, some people have trouble getting the door back down.  The Toyota Rav4 2012 models are being shipped with a unique tailgate that swings out sideways like its passenger and driver doors.
Much like other crossovers, the new 2012 Toyota Rav4 is build with a solid frame.  Most SUVs, even other Toyota vehicles, use a larger, truck like construction.  This build type means that the body and the frame are both separate elements.  The 2012 Rav4 comes with a uni-body construction which ensures a lighter over all weight while ensuring a strong and stable frame.  The lighter construction of the Rav4 2012 models has allowed Toyota to include plenty of cabin space which, in many cases, rivals that of full sized SUVs.
Part of what separates a crossover vehicle from a typical SUV is it’s power.  Crossover fans have come to expect an attractive ride that couples the storage room of a minivan with the power of a full sized sports utility vehicle.  The Toyota Rav4 2012 model continues to bring people what they want in a crossover.  The 2012 Rav4 is available in a four cylinder model that comes with a respectable 179 horsepower.  This is somewhat less powerful than some other crossovers but the four cylinder model makes up the majority of 2012 Rav4 sales.  The four cylinder engine should have enough power for most common tasks but anyone interested in a sporty vehicle should look into the six cylinder alternative.
The six cylinder version of the 2012 Rav4 brings all the horsepower that crossover fans could want.  Under the hood we find a six cylinder 3.5 liter engine which promises to give this crossover plenty of power.  The six cylinder model boasts a very impressive 268 horsepower which is really quite a lot of power for such a compact car.  This should be enough power to keep rolling in some tough situations that would be sure to stop a minivan in it’s tracks.
The four cylinder models of the 2012 Rav4 are shipped with a four speed automatic transition.  Many people in the market for a sports vehicle want a manual transmission but most crossover fans seem to prefer an automatic transmission.  The six cylinder Toyota Rav4 2012 models, on the other hand, are shipped with a five speed automatic transmission.  While this doesn’t seem like much on paper, the six cylinder, five speed 2012 Rav4s have much more power and ability than their four cylinder counterparts.  Even though the V-6 models seem to perform better than their weaker brethren, it still won’t accomplish sport heavy tasks such as serious off road use.

The 2012 Toyota Rav4 is proving that the crossover is often the perfect compromise between the need for space and the desire for a powerful vehicle.  With cabin space that can rival a full size SUV, the Toyota Rav4 2012 should fit a whole load of groceries, a small team of soccer players or the entire family with room for luggage.  The optional six cylinder engine is bringing with it all the power that you would expect from a sporty crossover and promises to keep you moving in a variety of conditions.  If you’re looking for a stylishly designed vehicle with plenty of room and lots of muscle then the 2012 Rav4 could be the perfect option.

This engine has the capacity to produce 140 hp at 6300 rpm and a torque of 128 lb.ft. Coupe with manual transmission can offer the fuel economy of 29 mpg in city and 36 mpg on highway whereas with automatic transmission, it offers the fuel economy of 26 mpg in city and 34 mpg on highway.
The 2011 Honda Civic Hybrid version comes with a combined mechanical power of 1.3 liter gas engine and an electric motor. It can even help to ride a short distance in city. The combination of both the mechanisms saves fuel and enhances fuel economy. The Honda Civic Hybrid is an aerodynamic uni-body design with a wheelbase of 106.3 in. The Hybrid versions are equipped with 16 inch tires on alloy wheels. 2012 Mini Cooper

The recently unveiled 2012 Mini Cooper proves, once again, that size is no indicator of power.  Minis have been in high demand with dealers struggling to keep their lots full and the new 2012 Coopers are going to make that even harder.  Mini fans have already come to expect all the power you could want in a sports coup stuffed inside what is, arguably, the smallest frame available today.  The Minis haven’t made a name for themselves on strength alone, however, as they are also known for their beautiful and stylish appearance.  Over the past few years, Mini Coopers have become one of the must have cars for sports car enthusiasts and the Mini Cooper 2012 additions continue this tradition.
Mini Coopers have come to be known as the mini powerhouse and the 2012 Mini Cooper is, by no means, an exception to this rule.  Packed into this pint sized sports coupe is a veritable powerhouse of an engine.  Mini fans will be delighted to find that the standard 2012 Cooper engine is a monstrously supercharged 1.6 liter transverse 4 cylinder engine.  While others may choose to go with an 8 cylinder engine, the 2012 Mini Cooper is all about getting the most out of it’s small size.  This is why the standard engine comes with a whopping 115 horsepower that turns at 6,000 revolutions per minute with 110 pounds of torque per foot at 4,500 rpm.
For the 2012 Cooper fans that are looking for a bit of an upgrade, Cooper is offering the Mini S.  Under the hood of the 2012 Mini Cooper S is an expertly engineered 4 cylinder transverse supercharged engine. While this seems similar to the standard model, the Cooper 2012 S model delivers a blistering 163 horsepower at 6,000 rpm.  The S model doesn’t stop there as it delivers 155 pounds of torque per foot at 4,000 rpm.  Looking at these specs, it’s quite easy to see why the Mini Cooper has had no problem making a name for itself and standing out from the crowd of boring, oversized automobiles.
All of this adds up to a small car that knows how to burn to rubber!  The supercharged engines that have been engineered into the new 2012 Cooper line offer a blinding top speed.  When running flat out, the 2012 Mini Cooper has a top speed of 124 miles per hour.  Not only does the new Cooper go faster than some of its competitors but it gets there faster as well.  The 2012 Cooper blasts from zero to sixty in only nine seconds!  No one would have expected such force from such a small package and this is what makes the Cooper brand so incredibly desirable.

2012 Opel Corsa

The visionary who slipped an Opel Corsa onto General Motors' stand at last January's North American International Auto Show in Detroit is the individual currently strutting corporate halls with the "I told you so!" look on his face. If only Saturn's general manager, Jill Lajdziak, had mustered the courage to splash an ARRIVING THIS FALL banner over the electric-blue Corsa OPC hatchback. A fun, affordable fuel-sipper would be the perfect addition to the Opel-sired Astra, Aura, and Vue models already gracing Saturn showrooms and an excellent alternative to the Korean-built Chevy Aveo and Pontiac G3 at the gimme-mileage end of GM's product range.

Last summer, an Opel Corsa Sport served as our support vehicle during a weeklong Ferrari fest in Italy. Equipped with a 1.4-liter Twinport Ecotec four-cylinder generating 90 hp, it was no ball of fire, but this two-door hatchback felt solid and sure-footed, as you'd expect of any subcompact engineered to hum flat-out on the autobahn for hours on end. We clocked a top speed of 112 mph, recorded 24 mpg over 800 miles of hard driving, and thoroughly enjoyed the Corsa's congenial spirit.
Although most Americans consider 90 hp barely enough to power their air-conditioning, the Corsa's 1.4-liter gasoline engine is one of eight power sources ranging from a 60-hp, 1.0-liter puddle jumper to a spunky 192-hp, 1.6-liter turbo. To supplement five gasoline engines, there are three turbo-diesels ranging from 75 hp (1.3 liters) to 125 hp (1.7 liters).
Offering a hint of its future plans, GM presented a diesel/electric hybrid Corsa at the 2007 Frankfurt auto show. Combining a 1.3-liter turbo-diesel engine with a belt-driven starter/alternator increases fuel efficiency to a claimed 63 mpg. Shutting down the engine at stoplights, employing regenerative braking to convert unwanted momentum to electricity, and using the starter/alternator to boost acceleration are standard hybrid operating procedures. The only part of this concept that's not quite ready for production is the Corsa's lithium-ion battery pack.
Regrettably, GM probably won't roll Corsa-sized cars and crossovers into Saturn showrooms until the next-generation design is ready in three or so years.

2012 Kia Rio

The all new 2012 Kia Rio is expected to make its debut during the 2011 Geneva Motor Show scheduled this coming March. This will be the first time that consumers will be able to have a glimpse on this new Rio 2012, which is already causing much buzz in the market. According to a press release issued by Kia Motors, consumers can expect this vehicle model to hit retailers in the UK on September.
There are two versions available for the 2012 Rio: you can either pick up the small-sized 4-door sedan or 5-door hatchback style. For those who opt for the 4-door sedan style, there are three trim versions to choose from – SX, LX, and the entry level version. If you want the hatchback style, then you will only be given one choice, which is the SX version.
There are some slight changes to the dimension of the Kia Rio 2012 that is distinctive from the previous models, which is 55 mm longer, 25 mm wider, but is lower by 15 mm. The wheelbase is also longer with the 2012 Kia Rio, which is now at 2,570 mm as compared to the previous one. The new cargo capacity for this model is estimated at 292 liters while carbon emission of 85 g/km is a major improvement from before to make it more eco-friendly vehicle to drive.
The new design integrated into the 2012 Kia Rio model provides a new interpretation of the signature grille from Kia. There are newly integrated headlamps that provide a fresh new look to the car, while it noticeably exemplifies a strong wedge along with a dynamic stance into the body-glass ratio.
There are several important features available for Kia Rio 2012, which is quite comprehensive even if you opt for the entry level version. These features include adjustable driver seat, 14-inch tires, and tachometer. The LX model is equipped with additional features though such as power steering, tilting steering wheel, air conditioning, CD player, and split rear seat. As for the SX model, you can get 15 inch tires, metal pedals, rear spoiler, fog lights, and leather-wrapped steering wheel.
In terms of engine performance and power, the 2012 Kia Rio offers four-wheel drive powertrain that is combined with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, which is capable of delivering up to 10 horsepower. This is integrated with a five-speed manual transmission for a more powerful driving capability. However, Kia has always been persistent in its quest of offering highly efficient vehicles such that the 2012 Rio does not compromise fuel mileague just to enjoy maximum performance. This engine type is capable of reaching 35 mpg on the highway, or 32 mpg on the city. However, switching to the automatic transmission will slightly vary that gas mileage into 38 and 29 mpg for highways and city streets, respectively.
The 2012 Kia Rio is no doubt going to be a great new addition into the choices for those looking to buy a small-sized sedan. The fact that Kia has been known to be an affordable brand, it also means that you can get the above mentioned functionalities without having to shell out more than you can afford.

2012 Volkswagon Beetle

Ever since it’s original inception, the Volkswagon Beetle has stood out from the crowd of other cars.  Shirking the design trends popular with other cars, the Beetle has always followed its own path.  With a reliable name like Volkswagon at the helm, the Beetle has always brought people a real car that is unique and stylish.  Long the domain of hippies, surfers and other alternative types, Volkswagon is promising something special with its new 2012 Beetle.  The new 2012 Volkswagon Beetle is being sold as “Less flower, More power” and is promising to fulfill people’s desire for a stylish car that really packs a powerful punch.  While a few lucky fans of Oprah may have been among the first to get a 2012 Beetle, the rest of the world can now take advantage of unique styling and German engineering.
The Beetle’s design has always been its most distinguishing feature.  While previous models were, well, “cute” to say the least, the new 2012 Beetle is being designed with real car buyers in mind.  The Volkswagon Beetle 2012 models are now sporting a redesigned body that is slightly reminiscent of the classic Beetle design but smoothly blended together with a sleek and sexy modern design.  While it has always been known as a slightly smaller car, the 2012 Beetle is now longer and wider than past designs which gives it a much stronger and sturdier feel when on the road.  The two door hatchback Beetle 2012 models are a sleek looking ride with smoother curves and a raked back windshield.  Many people have said that there are more than a few hints at the 2005 Ragster concept in the Volkswagon Beetle 2012 models.
The redesign continues with the Beetle 2012 model’s new headlights.  Packed into the redesigned headlights are modern LED daytime running lights, a feature which is quickly becoming standard on modern cars.  The headlights themselves are bi-xenon lamps which promise to give improved illumination and visibility on even the darkest nights.  The 2012 Beetle is also coming with larger, redesigned wheels which can be specified up to 19 inches to allow for more control and uniqueness.  The overall design of the 2012 Volkswagon Beetle is now, as mentioned before longer by a whole 6 inches and is also wider by about 3.3 inches.  This gives the car a better feeling of solidity and weight and should reduce the nervousness felt when driving previous models along side much larger cars.  The height of the car is now about a half inch lower which is a result of Volkswagon’s attempt to reduce the overall drag on its 2012 Beetle.

2012 Hyundai Elantra

Today’s auto market is much different from markets of the past. Current car buyers are very demanding when it comes to what they’re looking for in a car. Customers want a vehicle that looks great and comes with top of the line styling. They also want a car that has plenty of room both for passengers and cargo. Most importantly, however, they want a car that is powerful, safe and fuel efficient. Previous Hyundai models have managed to fill most of these requests in a sleek and affordable package. The new 2012 Hyundai Elantra promises to bring a stylish new ride that manages to be very fuel efficient without sacrificing power. On the outside, the Hyundai Elentra 2012 models bring a unique and contemporary design. Many people have been quite happy with the sleek design of Hyundai’s slightly larger car, the Sonata, and it seems that the Elantra is copying a few of its design elements. One of the most noticeable improvements to the 2012 Elantra is the redesigned grill. The grill has been crafted in more of an open mouth design. This design ensures that the 2012 Elantra will suck up all the air it needs to keep its engine cool.
The overall design of the Hyundai Elantra 2012 model is very sleek and modern. Hyundai has proven that they are keeping a close eye on current automotive design trends with its new Elantra. One of the most striking differences from previous builds is the windshield which has been raked back quite dramatically to improve over all air flow over the vehicle. The 2012 Elantra has also been outfitted with improved rear lights that are reminiscent of earlier Hyundai sedans. While these design additions have done a lot to improve its aesthetic value they also promise to increase the fuel efficiency of the 2012 Elantra.
Hyundai is also offering customers a good number of options when it comes to different models and trim packages. While the standard 2012 Hyundai Elantra comes with a number of great features, customers can choose from trim packages such as the GLS and Limited models. Some of the different packages include some very nice features. Navigation systems are becoming a standard element in modern vehicles and so Hyundai has included this in one of their optional packages. Other features that Hyundai is including in the Elantra 2012 models is a rearview camera to aid in backing up and a much improved high power audio system to play all your favorite driving tunes.
Hyundai is showing that they don’t sell their cars based on looks alone as the 2012 Elantra looks pretty great under the hood as well. A peak inside the Elantra 2012 reveals a 1.8 liter engine with four cylinders that combine to produce 148 horsepower and a competitive 131 foot pounds of torque. These specs promise to make the 2012 Hyundai Elantra a car that will perform when you need it to even if they aren’t exactly blowing anyone’s socks off. The engine should be more than capable when it comes to taking care of common tasks.
Hyundai is offering the Elantra 2012 in two different forms. While both models will have the same engine in the sedans, customers will have the choice between automatic and manual transmissions. The manual transmission shifts quite nicely and has no problem locking into a particular gear. There will always be some debate between people who like automatic transmissions and those who believe that manual transmissions are the only way to drive. Luckily, the 2012 Hyundai Elantra is a good solution for both sides of the debate.
The 2012 Elantra boasts an independent suspension which is a great improvement over other vehicles that are currently available. While most car buyers won’t be interested in the minutia of specifications, the improved suspension is a noticeable difference. The new 2012 Elantra may not be going off road but the ride is quite smooth even on tough roads and potholes. The steering on the Elantra 2012 is hydraulic assisted which adds to the over all responsiveness of the vehicle. When you’re powering down the road you want to make sure that your vehicle is stable and responds to your commands.
Hyundai has become a respected name in the auto industry. Its customers have come to enjoy the stylish designs, nice mechanics and quality performance that Hyundai brings with cars such as the 2012 Elantra. The reworked design of the Hyundai Elantra 2012 model has brought a sense of luxury elegance even in the base packages. The engine delivers some respectable specifications and maintains the reliable performance that people have come to expect from the Hyundai brand. One of the most noticeable improvements to the Elantra 2012 is the independent suspension and very responsive steering. Anyone who is looking for an elegant sedan that can get them where they need to go in a smooth and comfortable manner should definitely look into the 2012 Hyundai Elantra.

It has overshadowed all the versions of Corolla that were launched prior to the making of 2012 Corolla. The 2012 Corolla Toyota remains to be a five-passenger with a four-door sedan. The design and body style of the car gives take-no-chance approach to its successive rivals among other car high-end and high-performance car manufacturing companies. The Toyota Corolla 2012 is a visual appeal to the loyal buyers but will essentially carry the same sedan style that was introduced in 2009 as Corolla’s 10th design generation.

Owing to the fact that Corolla 2012 has a 4-cylinder engine, the mileage is a hundred times better than a lot of its competitors in the market. The 2012 Corolla Toyota also provides the buyers with a second option in terms of engine, which includes the 2.4 litre engine that can produce 158 horsepower at 6000 rpm. The corolla 2012 is slightly polished in its outlook and differs very remotely from the models launched in 2011.
